Woohoo-Ireland!

It was along day of traveling.  We began at 7:00, and took two trains to the airport.

We made it to Charles de Galle tired, but in what we thought was plenty of time.  Once we got to the terminal, the line to check in was long and slow.  Time ticked by, and we finally made it to the counter at 9:15 for our 9:55 flight.  This is when we discovered that our plane tickets did not include baggage.  At this point, everyone began to move in slow-motion, I'm sure.  The lady at the ticket counter gets on the phone and tells someone else the scenario and then waits for an answer.  After 5 minutes of this, we are sent to another counter to pay for the bags.  Fortunately, it's not far.  Here we fork over $200 to get all our bags on the plane, and then wait another 5 minutes for this lady to get it all together, print out a receipt, talk to her colleague, look up the right codes, and type it in.  Running now, back to the first counter to check our bags and get our boarding passes, and get to the gate.  All 4 Quinlans tearing through terminal 1 at CDG must have been quite the sight, but we made it.

(Haley wouldn't let me take pictures today, since she was in travel mode.)

Arrived safely in cork, and picked up rental car.  Getting all of us and our bags in the car was the first challenge, getting into reverse the second, getting to the house driving on the wrong side of the road, the third.

Challenge accepted!  Way to go, Scott!

Stopped in kinsale for lunch.  We'll have to come back, since it's such a cute town.

About an hour more of driving, and we made it to our house.  WOW!  this is exactly what I was hoping for.

This is the view straight out our windows.  It's roaring water bay south of skibberean.  Sean spent the majority of the afternoon playing with the resident dog, and we all napped.   Dinner in ballydehob with a very friendly restaurant owner, and our first Jamison and Ginger and Guinness.

The woman in this picture actually stopped to ask us how our vacation was going and wished us well.  A nice contrast to the snootiness of Paris.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, so we'll plan on a long day of sightseeing.  Good night!

  1. I'm still chuckling about your ordeal (just picturing it all), but I know it certainly wasn't funny. I'm running into the other room to relay everything to Dad. I hope your bags are included when you return to London. It looks beautiful there. I hope you enjoy it. Mom Q
