Day 6- Monday

Woke up early to get to the real arche. Walked there and it was lovely, especially hitting the patisserie on the way (brioche avec sucre is delicious- gluten what?)!
They were putting up the French flag in preparation for Bastille day.  Watching the traffic in the crazy round about below was something else.

This carving is at the top of the stairs.  It's how you feel after climbing the 200 stairs it takes to get there.

Sacre coeur in the distance.

That other arche.

Then we took the train down to the Ile de cite to see notre dame.  Wow!  It's indescribable.  Again, the line was over an hour so we skipped the towers tour.

The surrounding area is lovely, and we found a great medievel cafe for lunch.

Sainte Chappelle is the higher building.

This is the line for sainte Chappelle.

The stained glass is amazing!  We came back later for a concert of a Mozart divertimento, Vivaldi 4 seasons, and pachelbel's canon.  It was beautiful with the light coming in, and the musicians were amazing as well.

We walked a lot looking for ice cream.  There aren't a whole lot of them, which is strange. I think we have all of arrondissement 4 down.

Tired quinlans in Europe.

This was our next sitting spot.  A beautiful memorial fountain.

This is the sign that we look for when we're too tired to keep walking.

Made our way back after the concert to this.  And crepes.

Another very busy day planned for tomorrow.  We'll need a vacation when we're done here.  Good thing we planned one!

  1. I always think of the Griswold's European Vacation when I see the big roundabout in Europe... did you perchance watch in preparation for your trip?
