Sunday in Ireland

It was a glorious sunny day.  Here's a picture out the front of the house.  This one is an exact replica of ours.

We started out early with Mizen Head as our goal.  It's the most southern part of Ireland and not too far from where we're staying.  We decided early in the trip that we should pull over if we found ourselves in a beautiful spot that needed more investigation.  Well we found ourselves stopping a lot.  It really is extraordinarily beautiful here.  The pictures do not do it justice.

Stop number 1 - the harbor just outside of ballydehob.

Stop number 2 - the sign just said altar, but it was the rocks and water that stopped us.  Then we investigated more.  This alter is about 5000 years old?!  Talk about your sacred ground.   Pagan Pam is  in her element and couldn't be happier.

This is actually a video.  I'll post on Facebook so you can get the full picture.

Just taking it in.

My husband is the king of the world.

Stop number 2 - just outside of barley cove.

Those are my kids down there on that hidden beach.

Stop number 3 - Mizen Head!

There are cows grazing on that far cliff.

There was a lot of climbing up and down stairs and slants.  Haley's hips had a rough day, and she ended pretty sore.  She didn't give up, though and there was still a lot of climbing left.

Of course, Sean had no problems.  He took the stairs running.

Lunch time - eat somewhere on the way back.  But wait....there's a sign for "three head castle cafe!"  Let's go there!  After some perilous moments on the road, we found it.  There was a little bit of a climb, but the view... Ah.....the food was delicious.

So where's the castle?  The cafe owners tell us it's a short hike up the hill.  Well, it's a castle, so we have to! 25 minutes later.....

This castle is from the 13th century.

I forgot to mention the sheep...we had to hike through their field.

That's enough adventure for one day!

After dinner at the house, Scott, Sean, and I went to the village to hear an Irish band.

Not sure what's on for tomorrow yet, but hopefully a little less climbing for Haley.
Good night!
