Today is louvre day. Sean wants to see the Mona Lisa. We decide to do the really early art and the Egyptian wing and then head up to the famous lady. Just that was enough before we were tired of taking it all in.
Haley makes fun of me, but I will always take note of the amazing architecture of a building. This used to be the royal palace, so of course it's amazing. I think it's more impressive than Versailles.
It's bad quality, but I thought it was still a cool shot.
This is a real mummy. Seriously. Like 2000 years old.
Did I say yet that it was really, really hot? (*I have been requested to say how hot it was.....it was upper 90s). At this point we felt like we were melting, but there were vents in the floor every once in a while that blew up cold air and we would stand on them to cool down. Sometimes we had to share with strangers.
Famous lady 1
Famous lady 2- this one is huge.
This one was my favorite today.
We left to do a Segway tour, and it was the COOLEST thing ever. We had to find it, though. I have discovered that the Quinlans aren't good at tired, lost, and walking. Things get testy. People get blamed. It all ends up okay once we end up where we're supposed to be, but watch out until then.
At this point, we're hot, tired, and hungry. Another problem for the Quinlans. Hangry is a real problem. We finally decide on a place, and the service is laughably bad. It must be some kind of joke. We sit down and I tell him in frenglish that we need lots of water. We look miserable, I'm sure. He laughs condescendingly at me, and brings two bottles from the fridge. I know to watch out for this. They have to provide tap water for free, but some places will put down bottles and make you pay for them after you've opened them. We ask for tap water, and then we don't get water for about 15 minutes. We're just about to leave when he puts them down on the table. We drink it all in less than a minute, and then wait another 10 to get more. It gets worse as he ignores us. No, he actually works at it. I've never been treated so badly. 20 minutes later, Scott raises his hand to get more water and the guy looks over and turns away. The food was fine, but we left feeling really icky.
Down the street to find a better place for dessert. This place has a pretty good view.
Wow, the tower looks amazing tonight. Great shot, Scott!
I just wrote a comment, then it asked for a password, so here goes again. Maybe you will receive two. I did one the other day also, and it didn't get published. You keep saying it is very hot, but you don't give us the temperature. Finally, Scott shows us some leg. Pam isn't in any of the pictures. Haley - nice purse. Doesn't anyone have air conditioning over there? Glad to hear that you slept in. It sounds exhausting to me. Glad you are having fun. I'm enjoying reading the blog. Mom Q
ReplyDeleteI have been told that there is no air con in Paris. There was some in the museum shops, but not in any restaurants or apartments.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to some quiet time next week.
Rene and I are enjoying your blog tremendously. I can definitely relate the the "hangry" section!
